A. Antonopoulos Calls Out ‘Lies,’ Says He Never Attacked Bitcoin Cash

Antonopoulos Sets the Record Straight
At the beginning of March 2018, Antonopoulos made waves for removing references to blockexplorer.com in his book’s repository. He explained his rationale with a commit, saying that it would be “inappropriate” to keep the explorer in the textbook for their efforts to “push Bitcoin Cash propaganda.”
Many in the space leapt to the conclusion that Antonopoulos was coming out to bat against BCH. However, in a March 12th comment thread in a since-deleted r/Bitcoin post about the episode, a clearly angry Antonopoulos popped in to defend his actions.
“Bullshit. Lies repeated from an article full of lies.
[…] I removed 3 links to an explorer site that was serving up drama instead of transaction data. I replaced it with blockchain.info (you know Roger is an investor and board member right?).
I did not purge BCH or call BCH propaganda. BCH didn’t even exist when the book was published. In fact, I plan to add some info on BCH in the next edition, as the technical details are relevant. I purged drama introduced into a link posted in a textbook by a third party. That’s all. I told the block explorer to GTFO with their propaganda.
You know what? THIS ARTICLE is fucking propaganda. As is the one they mostly copied. Lazy ass peddlers of gossip.”
Needless to say, the scholar’s position on BCH is now perfectly clear going forward.
Actions of Thought Leaders Hyper-Magnified
This entire story speaks to the amplified nature of thought leaders’ actions in the cryptoverse.
Every deleted tweet from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin gets scrutinized. Every GitHub commit from Andreas Antonopoulos and Gavin Andresen is picked apart and debated. Strong opinions coming from every direction is seemingly reaching a fever pitch.
It’s a dynamic that isn’t going anywhere any time soon. But it does highlight the friction caused by the lives and actions of the space’s best and brightest being completely under a microscope.
