Bitcoin Car Talk: Mike’s Car Stalled by Stallman
HUMOR: Are you planning to watch Mikeinspace’s latest Bitcoin Car Talk interview? Then shame on you — free (as in speech) software advocate Richard Stallman does not approve of your viewing habits. Wait… Stallman is telling you not to watch a video where he himself tells you why you shouldn’t watch it? We’re confused. Mike’s confused. Watch the full episode to find out why. Or don’t. Richard Stallman Is Disappointed With Bitcoin Car Talk
Richard Stallman, in case you managed to become a crypto enthusiast without knowing it, is the founder of the Free Software Foundation and the GNU Project. He’s also famous for practicing what he preaches; refusing to use any software that’s closed or proprietary. Unfortunately, that’s becoming harder to do as the decades wear on and the technology we embrace gradually turns us into willing slaves.
“Free software is a matter of liberty, not price,” Stallman explains to Mike in a short interview that makes an impressive amount of sense. How does this apply to Bitcoin, and can software battle the enemies of freedom forever?
Watch the whole show to find out. This episode of Bitcoin Car Talk touches on real issues, is content-rich and violence-free. So to maintain its reputation, it’s up to Mike to come back at the end with a dad-joke that makes Stallman’s eyes roll; one so old that Mike is definitely safe from any IP-related legal action. There’s also a brief Bitcoin developer cameo — can you tell us who it is?
Should all software be free (as in speech, not as in beer)? Tell us what you think in the comments.
