Silicon Valley Vet Comes Aboard

Peter Smith, Blockchain CEO, wasted no time in releasing an excited statement on the hire:

“I’m thrilled to welcome Peter to Blockchain to lead our engineering efforts. His experience and insight after decades at top software companies is invaluable as we scale our team and deliver new products and services to our users.”

Blockchain Wants to Be the Best

The move came following the launch of Blockchain’s new U.S. cryptocurrency exchange functionality. It’s a clear signal of the company’s intention to compete with leading American exchanges like Coinbase and Bittrex.

Blockchain enters the market as Coinbase has been suffering from acute accessibility issues. Aware of the fact, Blockchain wants to avoid any hurdles on its new marketplace. Therefore, Wilson’s technical skills are poised to help ensure Blockchain does not face similar issues.

Pointing at rival exchanges’ websites crashing, Smith declared confidently that his service will never face “flash crashes” and delays in trading. Whether those assertions will stand the test of time remains to be seen.

But, indeed, Wilson’s engineering skills should go a long way toward build a transparent, secure, and open financial platform.

“Throughout my career I have been fortunate to build products and teams that level the playing field and empower users through software,” Wilson said of his new gig. “I’m beyond excited to join Blockchain and build an engineering organization in pursuit of a better financial future for all.”

Aiming to Add 50 million Customers

At present, Blockchain has a user base of over 22 million customers. Not bad, but the company has announced it intends to add 50 million more users by the end of 2018.

That would be an impressive feat, to be sure. But that’s why the company has been on the prowl for engineers like Wilson and lawyers like Marco Santori, one of the cryptocurrency ecosystem’s most high-profile attorneys.

The company wants to ensure a good start and also that any early momentum over its competitors is maintained.

Will the arrival of Peter Wilson, can Blockchain defeat crypto trading giant Coinbase? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
