Salesforce, an American cloud computing company, has revealed that it has been working on a blockchain-based product. The cloud computing giant was always known to have been positive on the revolutionary technology. In an interview at the Salesforce Developer Conference – TrailheadDX, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and co-founder Parker Harris confirmed their intention to offer a suite of cryptocurrency and blockchain solutions.
Salesforce Enters the Crypto Arena
CEO Benioff spoke about how he started to look into the groundbreaking blockchain technology at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. In an unexpected turn of events, a crypto conference was occurring concurrently. One of the crypto conference attendees engaged Benioff in a conversation about the future of technology.
The new blockchain-based products are set to be exhibited at the company’s Dreamforce conference this year. Benioff stated that he has become very positive about blockchain technology and the idea that Salesforce could employ it:
“I had been thinking a lot about what is Salesforce’s strategy around blockchain, and what is Salesforce’s strategies around cryptocurrencies and how will we relate to all of these things.”
Despite that, he initially was unsure how and where blockchain could benefit the company. It appears his initial doubts have become a thing of the past.
Innovative Company Employs Innovative Technology
Once again, the company has been crowned the most innovative by Forbes Magazine for 2018. Forbes has released a list of top innovative companies annually since 2011. For five consecutive years, from 2011 to 2015, Salesforce has held the top spot. In 2016 and 2017, Salesforce remained second, with Tesla getting the nod for first place.
This year, the publicly listed cloud computing company envisages releasing blockchain-backed products at its annual conference, Dreamforce, slated for September 25-28, and described as “four days of innovation”.
“When pairing the technology with Salesforce, companies can have a constant conversation with all the partners involved in the value chain of customer experience — before, during and after a sale.”
Recently, search engine giant Google also revealed plans to test the revolutionary blockchain technology for its cloud business. At the same time, Amazon Inc. and IBM have been piloting the technology for a while now. The cloud computing giant’s entry into the blockchain ecosystem indicates the advancement of the burgeoning sector.
