Verge Hooks up with Pornhub to Offer Anonymous Payments Option

Internet pornography giant PornHub has announced that it will start accepting Verge (XVG) as a payment option. Since last month, the crypto community has been speculating on who Verge’s new partner would be, after chief developer Justin Sunerok informed Vergefam, the Verge community, of an impending announcement.

Pay for Porn With Verge

Verge has inked a deal with MindGeek, owner of pornography websites such as PornHub, YouPorn, and Redtube. The Luxembourg-based company also owns pornographic production firms like Brazzers, Digital Playground,, and Reality Kings. It comes at a good time for the coin, as it endured a malicious rapid mining incident only very recently.

Verge developer Sunerock had hinted that the partner announcement would involve a “A global organization with a vast network of high traffic sites is looking to enter the cryptocurrency market.” Sunerock also stated that it would be the biggest ever crypto deal to be signed.

Over the past few weeks, the crypto community has linked Verge coin to many big names such as PayPal, eBay, Amazon, and Mastercard. However, only few would have guessed PornHub as its new partner. Sunerok told TNW “This partnership represents an enormous market with a global reach that will compete with fiat currencies.”

Verge also held a crowdfunding initiative to help seal the deal. The company asked the Vergefam to donate $3 million USD. The company managed to raise the money successfully. The funds raised will be directed towards building a secure payment gateway for PornHub.

While many coins have seen downswings in their value due to a string of bad news, XVG has surged, almost doubling since the start of the month.

Anonymity Key in Porn Industry

Verge is an anonymity-focused cryptocurrency and its privacy credentials apparently proved attractive to PornHub. Corey Price, VP at Pornhub told TNW, “Here at Pornhub, we’re all about convenience and security, which makes cryptocurrency an attractive form of payment for us.” PornHub revealed the partnership on its website and also posted a video advertising its forthcoming use of the coin.

PornHub stated:

“The future has come. In our efforts to keep current with our community’s privacy and payment preferences, Pornhub will now be accepting Verge as a means of payment for services like Pornhub Premium and more, on our platforms. Building on Verge’s core values of security, anonymity, and practicality, the introduction of this cryptocurrency as a means of payment Pornhub signifies an important foray into the future from the industry that is always on the cutting edge of technology.”

Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin, expressed his views regarding the Verge and PornHub partnership, tweeting:

Maintaining anonymity has always been key in the online porn industry. The majority of porn sites have difficulties concealing transactions on bank statements, although PornHub and Brazzers have demonstrated a commitment to secrecy.

Now, with the use of XVG, visitors are set to become more comfortable making purchases as their identity is hidden by default. The move should also see a rise in revenue for the adult entertainment giant. The new partnership is good news for both the Vergefam and PornHub.
